First chill in the air, Warning from the icy north. Winter's harbinger. The skies have been dazzling for the past few days; but, my, it's starting to get nippy. |

It just hit in North Florida, too. I'm falling all over myself in gratitude to whatever god is responsible.
Surely you jest.
Dr Manhattan has complained of the bitter cold of the North Floridian winter - the temperature sometimes drops to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, he tells me!
The last couple nights, it's been in the 40s (F). It's all the talk at the supermarkets and such.
When I first moved in with The Missus-to-be in 1993, the house we rented had a fireplace. Good thing, too, because our first weekend there -- also in October -- the external gas tank which fueled our heater tapped out, just in time for overnight freezes.
But then always, always the damned thermometer goes back up within a few days...
I'm not saying the Doctor is having you on, because I don't know him. But complaining about low temperatures here is often just shorthand for "Hey -- I wish I were in SOUTH Florida instead!"
It's all relative, isn't it? We get two months or so almost continuously below freezing.
