Leaving for work in a bit of a rush this morning, I managed to leave the apartment keys behind. The building management doesn't hold any spares or masters. I don't have a spare key I can lodge with friends. I am at the mercy of my landlord. That is not a good place to be. He, apparently, had mislaid his spare key. But, being the phenomenal tight-arse that he is, he preferred to spend a couple of hours ransacking his house to find it, rather than dropping any money on calling out a locksmith for me (which, in this country, would cost, what - 50 kuai??). Thank heavens, he just showed up to let me in. This is only the second time I've locked myself out in 6 years. I'd better make sure it's the last time. |
