A topical haiku

The weather's getting warmer, there's been no substantial rain for..... months(?)..... the whole city is one huge building site. It's one of the signs of Spring in this town, one of the signs that the dust problem is getting really out of hand, when the water tankers hit the streets, spraying the asphalt to try to reduce the amount of dust getting airborne.

When you haven't noticed this happening - especially wandering back from a bar in the wee small hours! - the unexpected appearance of shiny-wet roads can seem startlingly incongruous.

Streets suddenly wet -
Out of place amid the dust:
An ersatz rainfall.

Oooh! Now i understand. i was wondering why the streets are randomly wet every now and then.

I had guessed it was construction-related... but didn't know exactly.

It is weird to live for so long in such a dry place. I think my first few months here one of my most intense homesick moments was filled with a desire for a strong thunderstorm.

and these last two days, the air is so thick with dust and humid (yes, i know, the humid part doesn't go with the "dry city" part) i keep expecting it to pour, but it doesn't.

what are some of your favorite thunderstorm moments/memories/stories? I already know what mine are.
