Topicality thwarted

Felicitations to all of my women readers (who are, as far as I can tell, in a substantial majority - although they mostly have better things to do with their time than write comments).

I had dug up a couple of cute (non-sexist) cartoons on the theme to share with you, but....  Blogger's picture upload tool is currently dysfunctional (AGAIN, in any browser).... so you'll have to wait until next year.... or the year after.  Gggrrr!!!

It has now been months since I've left Linux for Windows on my home PC. This is actually a little frustrating, because I have one or two things which I can do ONLY in Windows. But I haven't had a choice: no Web access there.

It's weird. I can send and receive email from my email client. I can upload and download things via FTP. My anti-virus software auto-updates from the Internet just fine. It's just Web access, from any browser.

Presumably this has something to do with the http protocol, or with a port which my network router has mysteriously, suddenly decided to block. Who knows? I haven't had time to really research it. Especially since I'd have to conduct the research via, y'know, the Web. And at home, so I can try each step one at a time.

But if I can't get to the Web, I can't do much at all interesting in Windows anymore. Isn't that weird? I mean, since the Web is supposed to be all OS-neutral and so on?

(I have a feeling you may be scratching your head over this technospeak. Not to worry; I'm just thinking out loud!)

Ah, I knew you had problems at work. I didn't realise the cyber-demons were tormenting you at home as well. Commiserations.

I can see Dion Yawl as an icon of redneck music - perhaps some sort of hip-hop/country crossover.

My mounting frustration just now is more focused on the impossibility of contacting the Blogger people to complain about the problem or seek help, rather than the loss of functionality itself (I don't upload photos that often anyway).
