Bon mot for the week

"There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still."

Hmm. Not to be picky, but doesn't this beg a question? To wit: how many ways are there of going back?

A shame FDR couldn't live long enough (although he no doubt tried) for me to have set him straight on this sort of thing.

Binary choices are always more pity.

And 'going backwards' is rarely an attractive option; people who try to sell it as 'tactical withdrawal' are rarely convincing.

De Bono, of course, makes a strong case for giving more attention to going sideways.
