High heels on the stairs, Hawk and spit, a chopping board - Neighbourhood noises. Glad as I am to be away from my old apartment and my old landlord, the new place will take some getting used to. I am now on a lower floor, at the front of the building, and in a much busier compound. These noises are not too irritating (yet), and I could probably sleep through them most of the time, but.... when I've woken too early and am trying to doze off again, they do rankle a bit. There seems to be a big peak of activity between 6.30am and 7.30am (the guy downstairs clears his throat every morning at 6.30; only once, and quite briefly, but very noisily); after that, it gets quiet again. The question is.... WHY am I waking up at 5.45am every day? That's a bit early even for me. |
