Zhou Yunpeng, a blind folk musician who frequents one of my favourite local music bars here in Beijing, wrote an especially scathing song about the Karamay disaster (and other notorious instances of children's suffering in China). Days Ai Weiwei was detained80  With ironic, sinister symmetry, the celebrity artist/activist was incarcerated on the same day that my friend Wu Yuren was finally released from 10 months' detention.
