Another dangerously topical bon mot

One of my translator friends declined the early evening drink I'd suggested yesterday, on the grounds that he wouldn't finish working till 6.30 or 7pm.

I was somewhat sceptical of this excuse, since I know he works from home. So I taunted him:
"Oh, the inflexible discipline of the self-employed!"

I then taunted myself:
"Oh, how I wish I had some of that!"

You wish you had what? Discipline or self-employment.

Haha. Yes, I am currently rather more in the way of being self-unemployed. Thank you for the wound-salting, Cowboy.

I meant, of course, "the discipline of the self-employed". Actually, I am pretty good like that, when I have the work.

I need to start cultivating a bit more discipline as an unemployed person. All of this staying out till 3am or 4am every night, and splurging my savings on fine malt whisky.... well, it's all very nice, but I suppose it's not ultimately very good for my physical, spiritual, or financial health.
