My passing reference to Charlie Parker the other day reminded me of this well-known micro-tribute to the great man by the English poet, Adrian Mitchell (often considered as one of 'the Liverpool poets' of the '60s, in style if not in geographical origin - the Wikipedia article on the group points out that Mitchell was born in Sussex). A bit of a naff rhyme, but a nice image nonetheless, and undoubtedly heartfelt.
He breathed in air, he breathed out light;
Charlie Parker was my delight.
