A happy discovery

In the haze of after-party, I am in a mood to try to make resolutions, set new goals and directions for my life. Casting around for a poem to post, I happen on this - one of my favourite poets, in one of my favourite anthologies, yet I'd never seen it before.... an amazing oversight!

I absolutely love this, especially the last line.

may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old

may my mind stroll about hungry
and fearless and thirsty and supple
and even if it's sunday may i be wrong
for whenever men are right they are not young

and may myself do nothing usefully
and love yourself so more than truly
there's never been quite such a fool who could fail
pulling all the sky over him with one smile

E.E. Cummings (1894-1962)

sounds like you're verging on a new potential love.

through the haze of the afterparty, may clarity find its way to your heart and mind, may new resolutions come easy, and may happiness fill your world.

I am always on the verge of a new potential (female, human) love.

But my buoyancy today comes from the love of this poem. This is SO GOOD; so many great phrases, great ideas. "May my mind stroll about hungry" will be on my tombstone.... if I ever have one. (Not that I expect to live forever, but I plan to be buried at sea....)
